1. What we collect
We collect information you provide, information generated while you use InstaPress, and limited device information needed to operate the service.
- Account and profile: name, unique username, email from Google Sign-In, profile photo, bio, occupation, organization, website, coverage area, language and optional phone number when that feature is enabled.
- News and conversations: posts, reels, comments, reactions, reshares, saved items, reports, community context, direct messages and uploaded photos, video, audio or documents.
- Location and topics: locations and tags you deliberately attach to a report, and topics, sources or places you follow. InstaPress does not need continuous background location to operate.
- Technical activity: device identifiers used for push notifications, app version, language, sign-in events, interactions, diagnostics, crash reports and security logs.
- Verification and safety: verification requests, moderation reports, evidence, appeals, blocks and enforcement history.
2. How we use information
We use personal data to create and secure accounts; publish and distribute news; deliver messages and notifications; personalize feeds using interests, follows, locations, tags and engagement; provide search; process verification requests; prevent abuse; review reports; troubleshoot failures; and comply with legal obligations.
Crash and performance diagnostics help identify failures. Firebase services support push notifications and Android crash reporting. Google Sign-In verifies identity. Google Cloud hosts application data and media.
4. Retention and deletion
We retain account data while your account is active and for as long as needed for the purposes described here. Backups, security records, legal requests and moderation evidence may remain for a limited period where required for fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution or protection of users.
You can permanently delete your account inside the Android app under Settings and privacy, or submit a request at instapress.news/account-deletion. Deletion removes your profile and personally authored content from active systems, subject to limited legal and safety retention.
5. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, username, language, notification preferences and profile photo in the app.
- Delete posts, comments and reels you control where the product provides that action.
- Save or unsave content, hide reports, and block or unblock accounts.
- Request access, correction, deletion or information about processing by contacting us.
- Disable push notifications in Android settings, or adjust categories in InstaPress.
We may verify identity before fulfilling a request. You may nominate or authorize another person where applicable law permits.
6. Children
InstaPress is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly create accounts for children or conduct targeted advertising to children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate authorization.
7. Security and international processing
We use encrypted network connections, restricted infrastructure access, signed authentication tokens, access controls, backups, monitoring and moderation tooling. No online system can promise absolute security. Report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
Primary infrastructure is hosted in India. Some providers may process diagnostics or support data in other jurisdictions subject to applicable safeguards.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as InstaPress evolves or laws change. We will publish the updated date and provide additional notice in the app when a material change requires it.
9. Contact
For privacy questions, rights requests or grievances, email news.instapress@gmail.com. Include your @username and enough detail for us to understand the request. Do not send passwords or government identity documents by ordinary email.
