Community Standards

InstaPress is for reporting news in the public interest. These standards protect open participation without sacrificing accuracy, dignity or safety.

Effective 12 August 2026
Core standardsAccuracySafetyPrivacyIntegritySensitive mediaEnforcement

1. Accuracy and context

  • Do not knowingly publish fabricated claims, false attribution or altered evidence as fact.
  • Distinguish eyewitness reporting, opinion, allegation, satire and confirmed information.
  • Add source links, location, date and material editing or AI-generated disclosures where relevant.
  • Correct significant errors promptly and do not remove context to create a deceptive impression.
  • Do not coordinate false engagement or impersonate journalists, officials, organizations or witnesses.

Reasonable mistakes can happen during developing news. Honest correction is different from repeated or deliberate deception.

2. Safety and dignity

We prohibit credible threats, incitement to violence, praise or operational support for violent wrongdoing, targeted harassment, hate based on protected characteristics, sexual exploitation, trafficking, doxxing and instructions that create an imminent risk of harm.

Newsworthy discussion of violence or hateful conduct may be allowed when it clearly documents, condemns or counters it and does not expose victims to unnecessary harm.

3. Privacy and vulnerable people

  • Do not expose home addresses, private phone numbers, financial details, identity documents or precise live locations without a compelling public-interest basis.
  • Protect children, survivors, patients, witnesses and people at immediate risk. Blur faces or identifying details where appropriate.
  • Obtain permission before publishing private communications unless a strong and lawful public-interest justification applies.
  • Never publish intimate imagery without consent.

4. Platform integrity

No spam, phishing, scams, malware, fake giveaways, vote manipulation, purchased engagement, coordinated inauthentic behavior, ban evasion or misuse of verification. Do not use tags or locations solely to manipulate recommendations. Advertising or sponsorship must be clearly disclosed.

5. Graphic, sexual and manipulated media

Graphic material may be limited even when newsworthy. Use warnings and avoid gratuitous close-ups. Sexual content, especially involving minors or non-consensual imagery, is prohibited. Synthetic or materially edited media must be clearly disclosed and cannot be used to deceive people about real events or identities.

6. Rights and public-interest reporting

Only publish media you created, licensed or are legally permitted to use. Criticism, commentary and reporting may sometimes lawfully reference protected material, but the uploader is responsible for the basis. See the Copyright Policy.

7. How enforcement works

Responses may include warnings, context labels, visibility reduction, disabled sharing, removal, temporary restrictions, suspension or permanent account removal. Severity, intent, newsworthiness, harm, history and credible evidence all matter. Urgent threats may be referred to appropriate authorities.

Users can report content, hide reports and block accounts. Moderators review reports and preserve an audit trail. Appeals are available for eligible decisions. Verification can be removed where identity or conduct no longer meets requirements.

8. Report a concern

Use the in-app report flow for posts, reels and accounts. For an urgent legal or safety matter, email news.instapress@gmail.com with the content link, reason, and supporting detail. Call local emergency services for immediate danger.
